Uppercase Images came to life in 2008 at the coaxing of family and friends. I live in Arizona with my husband, Michael, and son, Conner. Living in Arizona along with my husband's occupation we find a significant amount of our personal time is spent outside. We are so fortunate to have family in town and a huge circle of friends all of which love to have fun and without fail have always provided an opportunity for me to capture the perfect picture.
I am that person, who is always looking for that special or unique gift, never can find exactly what I want, then resorts to making the gift myself. During a call to my niece, Kylie, she told me of a gift she had made for her mother where she had taken photos of different letters to spell their last name. Mothers Day was a few months away and my mind was already on the hunt for a special gift for my mother and sister.
Kylie quickly reminded me I was the one who always had the camera and was always the one taking pictures. With that, I was on a mission to find the letters to spell, CHAMBERS and HACKETT as was the start of Uppercase Images. I set out with my camera, not knowing what I would find or where to even start. The only restriction I placed on myself was to avoid using a classical letter. Quickly, I found myself looking at life from a different perspective. No longer was the traffic light at the corner merely a traffic light, but an E. No longer was the African Daisy in the front yard a flower but an O.
After finishing the project for my mother and sister and doing a couple pictures as gifts for friends I thought I was done. I soon began receiving requests for pictures from people I didn't know and who said they had been at a friends of a friends home and had fallen in love with the unique gift I had made for them. What started out as journey to find a few letters to make a unique gift for my mom and sister has blossomed into a library of letters now totaling over 250.
The greatest gift from this journey is seeing one's face when they see their name brought to life and upon reading the history behind each letter.
